Community Nurses

Sally Irving RGN BSc (Health Studies) is District Nurse Team Leader. Working with Sally are Helene Firks RN, Kim Cox RGN & SENM, Helen Lee RGN, Zoe Blackmore Baldwin RGN & SENM and Tracey Higdon (Health Care Assistant).

The District Nursing team look after the healthcare needs of patients who are housebound or have a life-threatening illness in their own homes. They work in collaboration with the doctors, specialist nurses, hospices, social services, and voluntary organisations to provide a high quality holistic care service for patients and carers. They also carry out Social Services assessments and funded nursing care assessment. The district nurses are happy to answer any queries you may have about community health care issues. If they don't know the answer they'll point you in the right direction. The district nursing team are available every Monday to Friday 9 am - 5 pm, telephone 01458 841 576.

Health Visitors

Bev Wicks RGN RHV and Eve Burr RHV. Health Care Studies are allocated by Mendip PCT to work with named doctors, and are assigned a caseload. They are qualified nurses with special training and experience in child health, health promotion and education. They are responsible, with the nursing staff, for the health and welfare of the young patients registered with our practice. They give information and advice to parents about the prevention of ill health, child development, immunisations parent craft and parenting issues affecting the family. The Health Visitors run our "well baby" clinics, post-natal support groups and eneuretic clinic. They will soon be implementing a hearing-screening programme for newborn babies. Community Midwife

Our Midwives Mary Richards (RGN/RM) and Ann Frost look after our patients throughout pregnancy, mainly providing ante-natal, and post-natal care. They occasionally provide intra-partum care for home births. The ante-natal care is mainly through clinics at Vine Surgery, by appointment. First appointment is usually at home. Postnatal care is up to 10 days in the home and according to mothers' needs. At 10 days care passes to Health Visitors. Messages can be left on the Midwives' answerphone 01749 836687.
